is the angry hedonist: former designer who gave it all up to become a poor and starving but happy artist instead. She illustrates awkward women in uneasy dilemmas with that loving touch of macabre. She enjoys telling the world her life’s little stories in her illustrations...

last friday! i skipped the usual bar activity, abandoned my sense of comfort to put on my treacherous heels and went to attend a cocktail party / art exhibition / silent auction / charity affair. SEEING IS BELIEVING, presented by Standard Chartered and organized by SCYA, is a charity art rendezvous held at the noble Asian Civilisations Museum in a commendable effort to support the blind.
as i possess a mere (and rather pathetic) iphone camera, imma steal the photos that my friend and colleague / the fab dancer / multitalented graffiti artist / super illustrator / peanut-butter-addict Clogtwo took of my art that was for sale…
for more photos of the event (which was by far the most grand exhibition ive participated in, wow i brushed shoulders with waaaay too many lawyers and bankers) please go looky here at ClogTwo’s comprehensive post about the exhibition.
also im super euphoric because I SOLD “THE OBSCURANTIST”!!! thank you Mr. Justin Boyd for buying my art!!! also special thanks to Jacklyn of SCYA for roping me in, and hello Billy and Isk (who commented that i tweet too much about public transport)! i had a great time and perhaps one too many wines. happy times. thanks yall.
i try, i really do, but i just keep going back to drawing miserable girls. this is the 4th sheet of rice paper, which i deem publishable only because i botched all the other 3 which mostly showcased equally forlorn ladies pouting with gargantuan lips (because i lost control of the ink/water balance)… but its been a fun experiment.
Kelly from Kellycakes recently commissioned me to create illustrations for her 2 new boutiques. in July i worked on the illustration for her shop, Luxe Dress Room (a fashion shop that’s all about fancy fabrics, mix and match of trendiest looks, and a unique sense of color and style). just a couple of days ago i finished another illustration for Goddess Chambre, her soon-to-be-launched fashion accessories boutique.
here’s the eyecandy!
it was great working with Kelly… she let me draw whatever i wanted!
so-de-do, a couple o’ months back waaay back in june, the coolest art magazine ever KULT invited me to contribute an illustration for their 4th issue, themed FORTUNE.
I prefer to think of fortune as wealth rather than circumstance as I do not believe in blessings resulting from unpredictable phenomenons. I believe I pave the path I travel upon.
If wealth is measured by the health of our earth, then we are very poor people.
If wealth is measured by the digits of my worth in money, then I am a poor person.
Fortune does not guide our hand, but only comes with conservation.
